There was a song in the classic Disney movie “Dumbo” which the crows sang that comes to mind when I look at these pelicans in the trees. The lyrics said, “I be done seen about everything when I’ve seen an elephant fly”. Get this, in forty four years of living in the Sarasota, Bradenton and Venice Florida area, I’ve never seen a flock of pelicans in the tress like this. Seeing these beautiful birds scattered throughout the Australian pine trees was a real treat for me.
I took this picture in Venice Florida at the Humphris Park, other wise know as the South Venice Jetty. The camera I used was a Nikon Coolpix P600. The picture was taken from about fifty yards away. I used a tall fence post to steady my hand while taking the shot. I slightly cropped the photograph and did a minor amount of color touch up on two of the corners.
