This image was taken in July of 2016 of the pier on Panama City Beach, Fl. This is directly across from Pier Park. The view is just in front of our family beach house that my grandfather built in the late 1950s. Anyway, just a few steps from the deck and this is the view that wows me every time I visit.
I posted this image of the pier on Facebook the day that I took it using my Nikon P600. An artist friend said it would make a great painting. I never really considered how inviting the landscape looks in the picture until she suggested it…She’s right, what a great painting this would make.
If you are an artist, please feel free to replicate this image in a painting. If you do, I’d love to see it when you are finished. Just use the contact form on this website to get in touch with me.
During this particular trip to Panama City Beach is right when the initial outbreak of Pokemon app/game started spreading like a wild fire. On the pier there were a lot of Pokemon enthusiast because there were a lot of them to be caught. I have no idea how the game works. All I know is everywhere we went on Panama City Beach there were people walking around like zombies with their eyes glued to their cell phones.
One night me and my two son in-laws went for a walk on the pier to watch the shark fisherman (yes, they fish for big sharks from the pier) and there were groups of people playing the Pokemon game.
I’ve been coming to this beach ever since I was a little guy. We are now into the fifth generation of Panama City vacationers. The beach cottage that my grandfather built has endured many hurricanes through the years. This particular end of the beach wasn’t really very popular until Pier Park was built a few years ago. Now this area is where many tourists seem to flock to.
