I took these pictures on Christmas day when the moon was setting over the intracoastal waterway in Sarasota Florida. It was close to 9:30 PM when I noticed how beautiful the crecent moon was. I had just finished having dinner with a friend at Cafe’Baci and as we were saying goodbye in the parking lot, I commented on how beautiful the waning moon looked.
I didn’t realize that the moon was setting. By the time I reached the Siesta Key Bridge at about 10:15, the moon was hanging very low in the sky. It eventually disappeared around 11:15. I love how you can see the changes in color from white to burnt orange.
I took these images with my Nikon 600P Cool Pix digital camera. I used the “moon” setting while the camera was secured to a tripod. The camera has a ten second automatic shutter timer. I used the timer to take all of these shots of the waning moon.
