The month is May of 2015 and I am noticing very colorful trees blooming in South Florida, specifically in the Sarasota, Bradenton and Venice areas. I’ve been wondering what large tree blooms with vibrant orange flowers that I am seeing during late spring and early summer?
The tree in this featured image is called a Royal Poinciana Tree.
I took all of the photos on this page near the Ringling Causeway Bridge and Bird Key Park. In this particular area you will find several different species of flowering plants/trees that are blooming during the summer months.
Here’s a list of the beautiful flowering plants near Bird Key Park:
- “Royal Poinciana Tree” (large tree with bright orange flowers)
- Mild pink (almost flesh colored) “Oleanders”
- Popping vibrant red “Firecracker Ferns“
These Royal Poinciana photos were taken using a Nikon Coolpix P600 camera. One of the things I love about taking pics is the educational process that accompanies this hobby. Had I not wanted to take some pictures of these beautiful trees with redish orange flowers, I would have never asked the question:
“What large tree in Sarasota, Venice or Bradenton has orange flowers?”
