People catch a large variety of fish from the Panama City Beach Pier. In this image there spectators are crowding around fishermen casting for king mackerel.
I took this picture from about a half mile away while zooming in with my Nikon P600. I didn’t use a tripod, but steadied the camera on the rail of the beach cottage deck where we were vacationing.
I’ve been visiting this area for over forty years. I’ve seen so many different kinds of fish caught from the pier, red fish, king mackerel, spanish mackerel, sharks, bonita, barracuda, ling /cobia and plenty of catfish. This year a couple of kayak fishermen were passing by our beach house and I struck up a conversation with them. They told me that someone had caught a sailfish from the pier earlier that morning. I’ve seen sea turtles and stingrays from the pier too.
